Lizzo’s unexpected cancellation of her Thursday night show at the Bell Centre devastated her adoring Montreal audience.
Lizzo describes how she went to bed on Wednesday night with a sore throat and headache and woke up feeling worse in a video uploaded on Instagram.
She informs her fans, “My body is weak, I have chills, and my head hurts.” I had to regretfully decide to cancel today because I believe I have the flu.
Lizzo continues by stating that this was the only time she had to postpone a performance due to illness and that she had apologised.
“Montreal, I’ll make it up to you. My apologies, she said.
“I just can’t perform tonight, but I want to find a date to reschedule.”
Just before 7:00 p.m., event promoter Evenko announced on Facebook that the show had been postponed but that additional details would be forthcoming.
Owners of tickets are encouraged to keep them because they will be honoured on the rescheduled date.
On Facebook, some concertgoers expressed their annoyance and frustration at the short notice.
One woman reported hearing the news as they approached the Bell Centre.
Others, on the other hand, were more understanding, remarking that artists are also people.
