Noble nerds and fantasy freaks come together.
The ‘Game of Thrones’ and ‘Harry Potter’ franchises will receive new life at the studio’s recently launched streaming service Max, according to a statement from Warner Bros. Discovery on Wednesday.
Buckle up if you want to return to the wizarding realm of “Harry Potter” because a scripted television series based on the franchise is coming to Max. (Warner Bros. Discovery, which is the parent company of both CNN and Max,)
According to a press statement, the series will be a “faithful adaptation” of the well-known “Harry Potter” books by author J.K. Rowling, who will also act as an executive producer on the venture. The “Potter” books by Rowling were released between 1997 and 2007.
New actors will play the parts played by Daniel Radcliffe, Emma Watson, and Rupert Grint in the ‘Potter’ movie in the television series.
The promise of each season is that it “will be authentic to the original books and bring Harry Potter and these incredible adventures to new audiences around the world, while the original, classic and beloved films will remain at the core.” The series is anticipated to run for an extraordinary 10 years.
According to author George R.R. Martin’s 2013 “Dunk and Egg” novellas, Max will debut a second prequel series set in the “Game of Thrones” world called “A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms: The Hedge Knight” over in Westeros.
According to a news release, the prequel is set a century before the events of the first season of “Game of Thrones,” which aired from 2011 to 2019. It will focus on the travels of “two unlikely heroes,” Ser Duncan the Tall and his squire Egg.
Great destinies, formidable adversaries, and perilous exploits all await these unlikely and incomparable allies, according to the press release. “Set in an age when the Targaryen line still holds the Iron Throne and the memory of the last dragon has not yet vanished from living memory,” it stated.
After “House of the Dragon” aired in 2022, news of a new “Thrones” prequel broke. Additionally a prequel, “Dragon” is based on the Targaryen civil war and takes place roughly 200 years before “Game of Thrones.” Martin’s 2018 book “Fire & Blood” served as its inspiration.
There are currently no set release dates for either of the new series.
